Josiah Bolth was raised in the desert.

He received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of art in 2013.

His life has been a party

And a tragedy

And a joke

Artist Statement

My work gestates in the space between the dreamworld and ours. It alludes to the mysterious forms that sleep inside our psyches and structure the architecture of our waking consciousness, inducing visions which are filtered through the experience of history, memory, and propaganda. In the liminal spaces I create, we glimpse spirits born from whimsy, anxiety, spiritual yearning and delusional fantasy living within and alongside the ephemera of Western culture. I seek the creation of a figurative space replete with the artifacts of the dreamworld, murmuring with the voices of stranger forms that remain among us, waiting to be perceived…
