Nozomi Hasegawa - Artists - FERRARA SHOWMAN GALLERY

Artist Statement

In my work, I address people's indifference to everyday things, which often exist in the shadows of modern city life. Pushed to the periphery of life, these are the things people pay little attention to, as a result, the perception and understanding of these elements are often vague and incomplete. In many instances, we only grasp objects at the edge of our field of vision fleetingly and incompletely. Our brain uses our memory, our imagination and a few stereotypes to supplement the visual stimuli to form an overall picture, an individually perceived reality. My works take up such fragmented images and can be understood as a simulation of visual perception processes. I think that the incompleteness of the perception of objects at the edge of our field of vision can also be transferred to social relationships and our perception of people at the edge of society. I believe it meaningful to address this in my works.
