Press Release
FERRARA SHOWMAN GALLERY is pleased to announce the third gallery solo exhibition of Dallas-based artist Kristin Moore entitled Nowhere But Here. The exhibition presents fifteen new and recent paintings which reflect an overview of the artist’s most common muses, landscapes and cityscapes of California, Texas, and Louisiana. Moore approaches place with a wanderlust sensibility which entrusts her paintings with the power to turn viewer into tourist.
The exhibition will be on view 23 July through 13 September, with an opening reception in conjunction with the Arts District New Orleans’ highly anticipated, Fidelity Bank White Linen Night – summer art walk, that attracts over 30,000 art lovers to the arts district – on 2 August from 5 – 10 PM. A second, closing reception will be held during the monthly First Saturdays on 6 September from 5 – 8 PM.
Moore discusses her new and recent works . . .
“Nowhere But Here” is a series of paintings that looks at the American landscape through a personal lens—blending memory, atmosphere, and the feeling of being in a place. Each piece reflects on how light, space, and familiar sights can shape the way we connect to our surroundings.
After years of road-tripping between California, Texas, and Louisiana, I’ve become fascinated by the quiet stories hidden in the landscapes—things like neon signs, dusty roads, wide skies, and the architecture that dots the way. These paintings explore that push and pull between staying grounded and always being in motion—between the familiar and the unknown.
This body of work is inspired by those long drives: the ever-changing skies, the stillness of certain places, the way moments pass quickly but leave a lasting impression. Whether it’s the soft glow of a Los Angeles sunset, the vastness of West Texas, or the rich textures of New Orleans, each painting tries to capture what it feels like to pass
through.
At its core, this series is a mix of personal map and visual journal—an ongoing search for light, memory, and whatever version of “home” might be waiting just up ahead.
