A message of sincere gratitude is extended to everyone who attended the opening reception of Women of the Elephant Tusk: ndi otu odu. We truly appreciate the support and enthusiasm you all showed for this deeply personal and culturally significant project.

The exhibition received the esteemed endorsement of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, CFR, mni, Obi of Onitsha. The opening reception was graced by Enyi Ugobeze, Florence Abadom Osoka, President General Otu Odu Society of Onicha Ado N’Idu, alongside distinguished members of the Otu Odu society from Nigeria and Europe. Notable artist and historian, Oliver Enwonwu, also honoured the occasion, making it an unforgettable evening where culture, heritage, and art converged to celebrate the power and resilience of African women.

Special thanks go to Olu Alake, CEO of The Africa Centre, and Sandra Mbanefo Obiago, curator and founder of SMO Contemporary Art, for their inspiring speeches that set the tone for the evening. Their words highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage while advancing contemporary African art.
