Pigment International's publication, Pigment Magazine, for the second year in a row has won the publishing industry’s prestigious 2022 Folio: Eddie and Ozzie Awards for Best Cover Design for its Winter 2021-22 issue. Winners were announced at the Eddie/Ozzie Awards held in New York on September 13 at the City Winery.
The cover art is by Nigerian artist REWA and is titled “Somto in Pink Jeans (2021).” Joe Jones of Elixir Media served as creative director for the Fall/Winter issue that was underwritten by the Field Foundation. Last year’s winning entry featured a mixed media piece Fight the Power by internationally renowned artist Deborah Roberts. The inaugural Pigment Magazine was also a finalist for Best Cover Design and featured the work ISYS by James Nelson. The Eddie & Ozzie Awards place the spotlight on leading editorial and design talents for their exceptional work and is a celebration of the exceptional talent that often inspires innovation in media according to the organizers.
Launched in December 2018, Pigment Magazine has as its focus art, innovation and curation. The magazine is broken into three sections featuring stories on artists, collectors, curators, gallery owners and others who are part of the Black art ecosystem.
